The most common question we get from first-time bookers is a variation of the same thing: is this safe? It's the right question, and this piece is the full answer — every safety layer built into GoWith, why it exists, and what it prevents.
Layer 1: Full KYC verification for every companion
Every GoWith companion completes three verification steps before they can accept a booking: government ID upload (Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, or passport), a live selfie with liveness detection matched against the ID photo, and bank account or UPI verification via a one-rupee name-match test.
All three must pass. Any failure or ambiguity routes the companion to a manual review queue. This process prevents fake profiles, impersonation, and photo-substitution scams — the person you book is provably the person you meet.
Layer 2: Escrow-protected payments
You pay upfront, but the companion doesn't receive the money until two hours after your meet ends. This escrow window is the platform's single most important safety mechanism. It prevents cash-on-the-day disputes, gives both sides time to raise concerns before funds move, and eliminates the incentive for no-shows.
No cash is ever exchanged directly between you and the companion. Read our full explainer on how escrow works.
Layer 3: GPS check-in at the venue
The meet's service timer only begins when both parties GPS check-in within 100 metres of the agreed venue. This means the companion cannot claim a completed meet without actually being present, and you cannot be charged for a meet that didn't happen.
It also ensures the meeting happens at a location both parties agreed to — never a substituted venue.
Layer 4: Private by design
Phone numbers stay masked throughout. Booker and companion communicate through the app, never through direct SMS or WhatsApp. Personal contact information is never shared.
Your exact location is revealed only at booking time and only for that specific meet. Nothing lingers between bookings. If you delete your account, all personal data is purged in accordance with Indian data-protection law.
Layer 5: Two-way public ratings
After every meet, both parties rate each other on a 5-star scale. Ratings are public on profiles and cannot be edited after submission. Companions with consistently poor ratings are removed from the platform.
Importantly, the rating a booker gives is as visible as the rating they receive — bookers who consistently behave poorly at meets can be flagged, restricted, or removed.
Layer 6: The two-hour dispute window
Either party can open a dispute within two hours of the meet ending. Common dispute reasons include: companion didn't show up (auto-detected via GPS), meet ended significantly earlier than booked duration, safety concern raised by the booker, or misconduct claim.
Disputes pause fund release. Our trust and safety team reviews evidence — GPS logs, chat history, ratings — and issues a resolution typically within 24 hours.
“Safety isn't a feature banner. It's the design decision behind every other feature.”
— GoWith engineering principle
What we cannot control
GoWith cannot guarantee personal chemistry or ensure every meet feels great. What we guarantee is: the person is verified, the payment is protected, the venue is public, both parties are accountable via ratings, and disputes are heard within 24 hours.
Our recommendation for first-time bookers: pick a companion with 20+ meets and a 4.7+ rating, choose a public café for the first meet, keep it under 90 minutes, and rate honestly afterward.
